If we were to use one word to describe what we wish for our followers here at ARIIX it would be: cultivate. By cultivating certain things in your life, you’ll be ever growing and ever developing as a person. You’ll be ever closer the best version of yourself possible. You’ll catapult yourself to your full potential, which is what we’re all about.

But where do you start? There are endless areas we can cultivate in our lives. If we had to begin somewhere, these seven things would be our starting point:

1. Gratitude

We shouldn’t just express what we’re thankful for one day a year, sitting around a table loaded with turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. No, gratitude is something worthy of striving for every single day.

You can cultivate gratitude by beginning to look for things that make you thankful on a daily basis. Once you’ve pinpointed these things, learn to express your thankfulness. Whether it’s a ‘thank you’ to your children for doing as they’re told, or one to the cashier on a shopping trip, expressing gratitude will make people around you feel loved and appreciated.

2. Present

Being present is harder and harder with more and more things to distract us from what really matters. Cultivating a sense of presence and daily interaction is important so you don’t miss out of life’s little blessings and special moments.

You can start this today by unplugging for a set amount of time every day. Flip your phone to silent, turn off the TV, and just be. You can get out into nature or engage with your family. Make memories with your kids or pursue a hobby that’s been calling out to you. Anything to help pass the moments in a more meaningful and engaged way will cause you to pause and not take any time for granted.

3. Vision

Is your life lacking a purpose? If you feel unguided and without direction, cultivating vision is important. It isn’t always easy to understand what makes you tick, but when you daily practice getting to know yourself and your passions more intimately, you’ll become more visionary and guided.

You can look into books that help reveal your passions. You can pursue hobbies. Spending time in meditation, quiet, or prayer also help you discover the things that really make you, you. Once you’ve found your vision, run after it! Pursue it at all costs! This is the year to really get to know yourself better and with increased vision, you’ll soon understand your purpose more clearly.

4. Embrace

Life is a roller coaster of ups and downs. And with these valleys and peaks we learn some of the greatest lessons in life. Always be learning from every circumstance in life by embracing both the highs and the lows. Look at each situation with fresh eyes and understand that there is often a lesson to be learned. Simply wishing away painful moments won’t make time speed up so take advantage of the difficulties by cultivating a sense of embrace and openness.

5. Honesty

It’s easier sometimes to avoid the truth. But difficult situations are the ones that often sharpen us the most. Learning to be honest with others and yourself reveals character and grit. Honesty really is the best policy, and if you’re looking for areas to deeply cultivate in your life, this is a fantastic one to start with.

6. Confidence

Sometimes confidence can seem like a bad thing, but really, someone has to believe in you, it might as well be you! Confidence will carry you far in life, especially in friendships, at certain skills, and in the workplace. Without it, you’ll always blend into the crowd.

Begin practicing self-confidence on a daily basis. If you like an outfit but are unsure of how its style, color, etc., be confident simply in the fact that it makes you feel great! If you’re just starting to take up a sport or hobby and are critical of your skills, feel confident knowing you are trying something new instead of remaining a bystander.Strong communication skills are one of the tools that get us furthest in life. Without it, our relationships will suffer, we will not perform well at work, and we’ll be misunderstood often.

7. Communication

Strong communication skills are one of the tools that get us furthest in life. Without it, our relationships will suffer, we will not perform well at work, and we’ll be misunderstood often.

Begin improving your communication skills right away. You can take a communication class or simply be cognizant of your weaknesses as a communicator and dedicate yourself to getting better. Before you know it, you’ll be a communication ninja!

What areas are you actively cultivating in your life? We’d love to hear your recommendations.
